Description: Poisson's ratio is a material property strain in the transverse direction to the strain in the axial (applied load) direction. Applies to elastic deformation only.

ν {\nu} = Poisson's ratio
εtrans, εx {\varepsilon_{trans}, \varepsilon_x} = transverse strain
εaxial, εy {\varepsilon_{axial}, \varspsilon_y} = axial strain (load direction)
