Description: This is the image of a FLASH simulation of the pure deflagration model of Type Ia Supernova. The blue surface approximates the surface of the star and the yellow surface shows the flame front behind which there is ash from burning stellar material. A supernova is a stellar explosion that is more energetic than a nova. The model is developed at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF).
